CoolHorse competition Horse Riding Socks – Super socks for summer competitions

0

Written on June 17, 2012 by admin

If your competition boots are a bit tighter than your normal riding boots, Coolhorsesocks’ Competition Riding Socks could well be the perfect socks for you.

Made to Coolhorsesocks’ exacting standards, Competition Riding Socks are 48% thinner than the standard lines, meaning that they fit well under tighter boots. The finer gauge yarn reduces thickness in the legs of the socks, whilst the lighter Coolmax padded feet give less volume, but the same great technical features.

The Competition Riding Sock is now available in two great new colourways: Pinks and Earth. These join the existing Blues, Maroonster and Black colours. Competition Riding Socks are available in size 4-7 and 8-11, and prices start from £9.00.

For more information, see www.coolhorsesocks.co.uk, or call 0116 2841558.

Season 2011 – Our Sponsored Riders in their own words

Hi my name is Beatle Payne. This year I have had an amazing time with my horses Amber, Flossy and Lila. Amber is a 9 year old 14hh2 grey mare which I did pony trials on this year and last year. Flossy is a 5 year old 14hh2 skewbald mare which I got at the start of the year and I have brought her on up to BE90. Lila is a 7 year old 15hh grey mare which I have done some Pony Club novices and BE80’s. This season wouldn’t have been as good as it has without the support from some fantastic companies, not to mention the fab socks form Cool horse socks!

This Eventing season started with Oasby Pony Trial in March with Amber. Amber went well and flew around my cross country inside the time. Next was Lincoln Pony Trial which was over two day, dressage and show-jumping on one day, cross country on the other. Amber show-jumped one of the best she has ever and flew around the cross country even though we had to get held because the girl in front fell. After Lincoln my blue stripy competition socks became my lucky socks. After Weston Park I got selected for Withington and Brand Hall Pony Championships. At all of these events I wore my lucky socks and they worked! She did a good test at Brand Hall and didn’t spook at the flags or tents. She was amazing cross country and went clear and easily inside the time.

After the Pony Trials had finished I then did some BE Events with Flossy and Lila. The first one I did was Stafford and Flossy came 3rd and Lila was 5th. Then I went to Carlton with them both again and Flossy was 10th and Lila 3rd. At Shelford Manor, that was the start of my winning streak. Flossy won Shelford, Solihull and Brooksby Melton one after each other! What a wonderful end to flossy season and the

lucky socks really worked at these three events. The last event of the season was Weston Park International CCNP2* with Amber. She was really good and did a good dressage, clear cross country and just had the last fence down, only one person finished on their dressage so I was really pleased with Amber. She can now enjoy show-jumping and dressage over the winter and then preparing for a busy next season with my lucky socks!

Hello Coolhorsesock fans! My name is Victoria Trafford and I’m an Event Rider based in Leicestershire. The Eventing season is coming to its final runs and 2011 has been a memorable season I’ve had some tremendous highs like completing Chatsworth International on Tina and also gaining 68% in our first ever Elementary dressage test. I was also over the moon about the opportunity to compete abroad however with great highs they are great lows I had a string of bad luck thinking I was going to go and compete in France Tina developed a tooth abscess and once that was cleared she had pulled her back. Due to the amount of light work I didn’t want to take Tina just to ‘make up the numbers’

as I wanted a real crack at the contest so hopefully next year if we get the chance to go she’s being wrapped up in cotton wool. But that’s horses for you my mum would always say they are great levellers! But I’m extremely lucky and for 2012 I’ll have four horses on the circuit including a recently broken in Primmores Pioneer mare and two new additions to the team so watch out 2012!

One thing I couldn’t cope without is having my feet looked after! Coolhorsesock products are fab they keep my toes warm when I need them to be and cool whilst I’m competing. The range of colours will brighten anyone’s mood and are funky to boot I just have to fight the dog to get my hands on them.

So that’s my year wrapped up till the season kicks off again in March but don’t worry I won’t be having a rest I’ve got plenty of training to get done!

RHP Eventing Highs and Lows

Wow what a year, I can’t believe we won’t be seeing another cross country fence till March 2012. Twizzy and I have had a learning curve of

a year with making the step up from BE100 to Novice, which proved slightly more difficult than I first anticipated.

The aim of 2011 was to always make that step up to Novice and with a couple of placings at BE100 and being near that all important optimum cross country we made the decision to move her up a level. Our novice runs haven’t been that successful with slight jockey errors at every event, the most exciting thing after studding the results is that if I had finished on my dressage score at every event I wouldn’t have been out of the top 6!! This leaves me with a very warm feeling inside, knowing that in the winter of 2009 Twizzy would freak out at the sight of a cross pole and feel the need to give it an extra 4ft of air space and now she is flying happily around novice tracks, even with the numpty rider on top, who sometimes points her at the wrong cross country fences.

However I do feel that with the experience we have gained in 2011 and with a good season of winter training behind us, with warm feet of course thanks to the amazing cool horse socks, I feel that we will be able to produce some places at Novice in 2012 and hopefully have our first ever 3 day run at Osberton CCI* in October, Wish us luck.

RHP eventing at Lincoln BE100 18th March

Thankfully my times weren’t as early as I had first expected. We headed of to Lincoln about 7.30 and arrived just before 8.45am. We have never been before and nobody had mentioned how far away the secretaries ‘tent’ was from the car park! So off I went o get my number and check in etc. Got myself ready and then start the get Twizzy ready. We headed off over to dressage to find out that they were in fact running 10mins early, and the person due on before me wasn’t in fact there yet! Luckily the competitor before me followed me down, so it gave me an extra 5 mins to warm up. As I was warming up, it was announced over the tannoy that the Red Arrows would be flying over at 9.15! Just brilliant! Luckily the Red Arrows didn’t seem to bother Twizzy at all as they happened to fly over the car park more than the dressage arenas while I was doing my test. Twizzy did a better dressage test than at Oasby on Sunday to come away with a score of 36.

A quick walk round the XC, which was a lot bigger than I expected. It was going to need forward, bold riding, and it had an optimum time of 5.23, I will tell you a bit more about the Xc in a min ;)

Onto Showjumping. The XC took a little bit longer to walk round than we thought it would do. We arrives to the SJ with 7 to go and the course to still be learnt. A quick glance over the hedge while a few were jumping and the course was learnt, Perhaps not the best way to learn a SJ course that was causing a few knock downs…. Anyway, Twizzy warmed up like her normal pinging self and we went on down to do our SJ. Once we were in the ring on a level with the jumps they looked a lot bigger! But Twizzy in true Twizzy fashion flew round producing another clear round.

Back to the trailer a quick change, and ready for XC. Twizzy warmed up as normal over the XC jumps and then it was our turn to go. The first fence was a brush fence we port-a-loos on both sides, then to a chair, to a steeplechase fence. She came out of the start box and I was on a mission, in fact I think we both where, she was like a different horse, anyway, back to the jumping. She flew fence one, two and three. Fence four was a box with dark boards on them, I really thought this would back Twizzy off, but she didn’t even look twice, just flew round the corner, over the fence and kept galloping on landing. Fence 5 was a pheasant feeder with cut out COWS on the other side, no bother to Twizzy she flew it again and kept on galloping. Fence 6 was a trakhener which again caused no problems and just picked her feet up and flew it. Fence 7 was up a bank, down and over a log cabin to a skinny on a curving line. I took a little bit of a pull once we got to the top of the mound, she then locked on to both part and just flew again :D It was then a good gallop to a sheep feeder, which she just jumped out of her stride. The to a step up before the water, I took a bit of a good pull before the step up because I has chosen to go long at the water as it gave you a better shot to fence 11 which was directly after the water. She flew in the water and over the skinny at 11. At this point she was going fantastically and in my head I was thinking we could maybe get the OT. Fence 12ab was two hedges on an angle which was a little bit short for Twizzy but she just flew over them and galloped on strongly to the corner at 13 which she didn’t even change her stride to, she flew it :D Fence 14ab was a upright palisade to a log, the palisade had a DRAGON on it, but she didn’t even give it a 2nd look flew over both parts and we kicked on towards fence 15, which was a rail with a water tray underneath with a running shower next to it ! She flew again, didn’t even give it a second look, fence 16ab was two gates which I set her up for again as the last double was a little bit short, we jumped 16b on a bit of a long shot but she was clear, jumped the rail/hedge on the angle and 17, galloped to fence 18 a hedge and the tyres at 19 without taking a pull. She was flying and soooo amazing.

We did it. We had just jumped a double clear inside the time (4.58 OT 5.23!) at Lincoln Horse Trails and TBH today im still on cloud 9. To make it even better we came home with a 10th rosette
