Sock it to 'em

Katie and Joel (part ofthe CoolHorse team) have now officially started to compete in the national Horseboarding league.  Katie had an initial outing last summer on her pony Prinz before she went off to uni and won the Novice class on the day and liked the thrill of the sport.

Find out what Horseboarding is here.

"As we went to our first competition last weekend we were not expecting anything as complete novices. Joel has only boarded for 3 weeks and so had Owen the horse. We were happy and going well the course was tricky as there was a lot of undulations all over the course and it was very slippy, Owen was struggling to find grip. We held our own until the penultimate race of the day when Joel fell and damaged his shoulder so we had to withdraw from the last race.  at that point we were lying in third. As we were warming up the next morning Joel decided he didn't want to run due to his shoulder. So me and Owen found ourselves a new more experienced boarder and ran non-competitive, letting Owen run faster he really showed what he could do as our time would have left us lying in first if it was a competitive run.   This really bodes well for the future

We finished in 8th because we didn't have a time for the last day.

See below a video of the Novice teams in Kent

We learnt a lot and look forward to the next comp in Cambridge next weekend!"
